Thanks to Helene and Lotty at Konst-ig, Coiled vases are now available on their web shop!
February 8th – 13th
Coiled is a series of three different sized vases. Covered with strands of colored glass beads, the bases of the vases are made of recycled pet bottles and left over fabric.
The vases are the outcome of a ten day workshop set up by Editions in Craft in March 2010 in which the young design cooperative BCXSY (Boaz Cohen and Sayaka Yamamoto) were invited to collaborate with Siyazama Project, a collective of women from the rural province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa who work with traditional beadwork. BCXSY are recent graduates of The Design Academy in Eindhoven and are based in the Netherlands.
Coiled is now an ongoing series. Each vase is handmade and different in shape, colors and patterns, determined by the Siyazama Project.
Coiled has since been exhibited at Spazio Rossana Orlandi at the Milan Design Week, Design Act in Moscow, Eindhoven Design Week and Tokyo Design Tide amongst others.
Our Tokyo exhibition at Claska installation is ready!
Opening is tomorrow evening.
Typhoon is hitting Tokyo today. It’s a storm here!

2010.08.31 – 2010.09.05
We are pleased to let you know that Editions in Craft will exhibit its first project at Spazio Rossana Orlandi during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile / Design Week in Milan from April 14th to 19th 2010.
In 2009 we initiated the first contact with the Siyazama Project, a collective of twenty women from the rural province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa who work with traditional bead craft. The vision was to set up a collaboration to develop products together in workshops by linking traditional skills with contemporary design practice and through sharing techniques and exchanging ideas.
We invited the design cooperative BCXSY (Boaz Cohen and Sayaka Yamamoto) from the Netherlands to collaborate with eight women of the Siyzama Project (Lobolile Ximba, Sbongile Ximba, Celani Noyjeza, Princess Ngonephi Ngcobo, Kishwepi Sitole, Tholiwe Sitole, Beauty Ndlovu, Thokozani Sibisi) to design and produce prototypes together.
In Milan we will be showing the first prototypes of the series Coiled jointly designed by BCXSY and the Siyazama Project. They were made in a seven-day workshop held in Durban, South Africa in March 2010.
